The Person Behind the Persona Jon
Mazur creates images of contemporary subjects with the timeless techniques
of the great masters of art. In his works, which range from CD covers
to thirty-foot murals, Jon Mazur reveals the essential humanity of the
people he paints: the person behind the persona.
His clients have included the William Esty Company, CBS/Sony Music, Nine West, Sylvan Learning Center, Global Capital Group, Stash Records, the Poetry Project, and Tamarind Magazine. Among his collectors are the Los Angeles Kings/Kings Care Foundation, the Soros Foundation Kazakhstan and private individuals. His work is currently on display in the executive offices of Staples Center and has been exhibited in the Threadwaxing Space, the Poetry Project and PS 122, all in New York City; Galerie du Soir, Paris; and the Institute Of Open Society, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Jon Mazur received a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute, New York and also studied life drawing and painting at the Art Students League, New York. In addition, he served as an instructor of drawing at Pratt Institutes Saturday School. |
